Often examination of specific bristles is required for Diptera identification. If this is the case it is probably beyond the abilities of the DDDI system. Submitting a physical specimen to the appropriate specialist will likely be necessary.

In review, when submitting Diptera for further identification, select images that convey shape and form of the antennae, presence or absence of the empodium, and shape and venation of the wings.
