Hymenoptera -
The Sawflies, Bees, Ants and Wasps (cont.)
The
form of the eyes may differ, in some families the inner margins may be strongly
emarginate (notched or indented).
In
review, when submitting a member of the Hymenoptera for further identification,
include digital images of the front wings paying particular attention to venation.
Images of the antennae, shape of the pronotum in profile, tibial spurs and number
of trochanter segments are also useful. Form of the tarsi may be difficult to
include initially but may be needed if additional images are required. One image
may be able to convey more than one characteristic.
